THE Vishwaroop Temple celebrated its fourth annual Kanya pooja on Saturday, September 23.
The nine little girls (kanyas), who were adorned in their beautiful regalia, represented the nine forms of mother Durga.

The male Dee Baba represents their brother for protection.
The girls were blessed by their mothers and the congregation with gifts.
The highlight of this event was the dance the young kanyas performed, choreographed by brother and sister team, Shamik and Nivedna Panday who trained these little kanyas for the outstanding dance sequence.

Avni Singh and Prashika Dusrath and volunteers have been active in the planning and sourcing of every detail, making this function an outstanding success.
Devotees showered the kanyas with gifts and offerings.
Khanya pooja is celebrated during Navaratri.
Nine young girls are worshiped and it is a custom to wash the feet of these girls as a mark of respect for the goddess.

In celebrating Navarathri, the temple hosted it's sixth annual Durga Saptashati Hawan on Sunday, September 24.
More than 50 families participated in this mass hawan, where 1008 names of "mother" was offered into the fire.
Devotees were spiritually charged after this event.

Chairperson Navin Panday said: “The organisation is grateful to all donors, sponsors and devotees for their generous sponsorship towards the hawan.”
