A MEDICAL and wellness camp was held at the Redcliffe Hindu Sabha to provide the community with free medical services recently.

The event was also held in commemoration of Heritage Month.

Co-ordinator Doctor Sudhir Rathiram said the programme was initiated last year to assist underprivileged communities access health care easily.

People who attended the medical camp gained the knowledge on healthy lifestyle and other issues pertaining to heath care.

He said that other doctors joined in and assisted in facilitating consultation free at the temple.

“I started the programme last year after noticing that there was a lack of health care educational programmes in the community.

“Doctors who joined in were Dr Rita Ramlall, Dinesh Deonarain (podiatrist), Thara Gyachand (optometrist), Dr K Naidoo (dentist), N. Sewpersad (financial adviser), senior nurse Sister Pula and Mr N. Manjanu (temple chairman).”
