JUNIOR cricket clubs from Tongaat received new sport kits at a kit handover function held at Tongaat Central library on 5 December.

The junior teams coming from various areas in Tongaat received the new equipment from the Tongaat Cricket union. The new kits include cricket bats, shirts, hats, gloves, thigh pads, cricket stumps, helmets and many more cricket equipments.

Secretary of Tongaat Cricket Union Kalvin Padayachee said it was a night full of excitement as the captains of the junior clubs in the Tongaat Cricket Union received new kits.

“These [new] kits were sponsored by the National Lottery and this is a great achievement for the juniors as it shows that their hard work and dedication has been rewarding. The new kits will help the children in the current and future seasons, allowing them to train more and develop their talents.

“The Tongaat Cricket Union, council and parents who attended the handover were really happy for all the children and they look forward to the children using the new equipment and having a great season ahead. We have bright and talented youngsters in the Tongaat league who have the potential to become future Dolphins and Protea players. We would like to thank the sponsor for these kits - this will truly make a difference to every child that plays cricket.”
