Laptops stolen from Verulam school

A MAN accused of breaking into a primary school in Verulam was arrested by the police on Monday 26 September in possession of suspected stolen property.

The suspect (25), was among a group of men who broke into Acacia Primary in Verulam and removed 16 HP laptops from the computer room.

The police said that the suspects broke down the door and ransacked the room on Monday night.

On 26 September members of Vispol Task Team received information about the suspect, who was in possession of suspected stolen laptops in the Waterloo area.

According to police reports the suspect was spotted selling the laptops to the residents in Waterloo.

Police spokesperson in Verulam Captain Mark Prakasim said: “Our members were sent to the Waterloo area after we received the information about the suspect selling expensive laptops to Waterloo residents.

“When police arrived at his house, six laptops were found and he was charged for being in possession of suspected stolen property. The task team has taken over the investigation and the suspect is remanded in police custody pending further investigation,” he said.

The police warned the public not to buy suspected stolen property.

“Buying stolen property is a crime and those found with the suspected stolen goods will be charged,” he said.
