TONGAAT teenager Kuraisha Rajaram who went missing on 19 November was found walking on the M4 at the weekend.

The Coastal Weekly published the missing person report as it unfolded on our Facebook page and thanks to readers, Rajaram was safely found at the weekend.

Tongaat SAPS communications officer, Manisha Maharaj-Marie said Kuraisha is now safely with her family and was located thanks to the assistance of the community who were vigilant enough to spot her walking on the M4.

“We are thankful to everyone for their assistance in finding Kuraisha,” said Maharaj-Marie.

Before being found, Kuraisha was seen with a boy in the Tongaat CBD at 3pm and later boarding a bus to La Mercy at 5pm.

A missing person report was then opened and investigations began.

“Police followed several leads which came in from the public and our investigations,” said Maharaj-Marie.

Social media sites were also used to make the public aware of Kuraisha being missing until a community member spotted her walking on the road.

“Police were notified and she was taken safely home. Kuraisha is now with her mother,” said Maharaj-Marie.

Maharaj-Marie said Kuraisha is believed to have been around the area of the beach during the time she was missing and she is receiving counseling.

Kuraisha’s mother, Shavana Rajaram said her daughter is fine and safely at home.

Rajaram said she would like to thank everyone that helped look for Kuraisha, especially Maharaj-Marie and the police who went all out to help get her daughter home safely.
