MOUNTVIEW Secondary held a speech and awards evening on 27 January at the Verulam Day and Frail Care Centre.
Circuit manager Siva Chetty complimented the staff for their ongoing dedication in achieving outstanding results and the commendable pass rate of 92.27%.

Two pupils, Siphesihle Mtshali (dux) and Kavir Bodha were placed second at the Mafukuzela-Gandhi Circuit Awards.

Siphesihle and Khwezilokusa Maphasa were also honoured at the eThekwini awards.

The principal’s award went to Kwezilokusa for his continuous dedication and perseverance.

Jivaan Raj Singh, recipient of the Venketsamy Commerce award also brought honour to the school by achieving the joint highest mark in economics in the Pinetown district. Guest speaker Teesha Singh, a chemical engineer, encouraged award recipients to strive in all their endeavours despite challenges that may arise. The school also launched the Mountview Secondary Alumna Bursary Fund.

This initiative was founded by former pupils, Dr Kreshalen Govender and Dr Sivendren Thaver and the matric class of 2008.

The school said in a statement: “The school is extremely appreciative to these selfless individuals for the contribution made to uplift pupils in our school. The committee would like to encourage former pupils to contribute to the Alumna Bursary Fund so that more pupils in need can be assisted.”
