AFTER a long hiatus after the very successful 2016 season, the Verulam Premier League (VPL) makes its eagerly awaited return on Sunday, April 30.

After a dominant season for last year’s champions Parkgate Celtics, who have gone on to attain promotion to the SAB League, this season is far more difficult to call.

General secretary of the Safa Verulam Football Association Nico Mazwayi said in a statement:

“The addition of new teams and the return of well established powerhouses, the 2017 VPL will not be one to miss.”

Mazwayi gave his best wishes to all teams that will be participating and said that the executive of the Verulam LFA was excited to see the growth of the league.

Mazwayi added: “The first round of fixtures will be played at Verulam Recreation Grounds on Sunday, April 30.”

The first game will see Power Stars coming up against Two For Joy at 10 am and the second game will see Real Attackers locking horns with Parkgate Swallows at 11.30 am.
The third game will see Bhaka Bhaka taking on Madrid FC at 1 pm followed by the last game between Classic FC and Verulam United that will start at 2.30 pm.

For further details about the league, contact general secretary Nico Mazwayi on 079 306 2927.
