TONGAAT Child and Family Welfare Society commemorated Child Protection Week recently.
The theme for 2017 is “a safe child is a happy child.”

In keeping with this theme, primary schools in the Tongaat area teamed up with the society to assist in creating awareness on abuse, preventative measures that can be implemented and the education of pupils on ways to report abuse.

Social work manager Jo Moodley said: “As a society, I urge every community member to come together and act against abuse. These are our future young adults so if we do not report abuse and come together to protect them, who will?
“Every member has an important role to play.  Even if you make a difference in one child’s life, it will be one life saved.
“Our children are our future and our legacy - let’s all work together to protect them.” - Supplied.
