Vehicle overturns: Verulam -

Reaction Unit SA officers responded to calls of an overturned vehicle on Umdloti Beach Road in Verulam on 23 May at approximately 8am.

Upon arrival officers found a Toyota Auris in a bush several metres away from the road. The driver, who was the only occupant, was not injured in the accident.

The driver told the officers that he was proceeding in the direction of Verulam and lost control of his vehicle as he cornered a bend. The vehicle left the road before overturning and landing back onto its wheels.

Attempted hijacking: Verulam –

On 23 May at approximately 6.30pm members of Reaction Unit South Africa were dispatched to Marula Circle in Trenance Park after receiving reports of an attempted hijacking. Upon arrival officers were informed that two suspects, one who was armed with a firearm, attempted to hijack a member of public for his VW Golf 3 while he was visiting relatives. The suspects were disturbed by residents and fled the scene on foot.

Officers patrolled the area in search of the suspects however, no arrests were made.

Theft of motor vehicle: Tongaat –

The public is requested to be on the lookout for a blue VW Golf with registration NJ 30217. The vehicle was stolen from the parking lot of a flat in Flamingo Heights in Tongaat during the early parts of the morning of 25 May. The vehicle had a quarter tank of fuel and no security devices.

Attempted house break-in: Tongaat –

On 26 May members of Reaction Unit South Africa were dispatched to a home on Sastri Circle in Belverdere at approximately 10:20am after receiving reports of a house break-in in progress.

Upon arrival officers found that the front door and security gate had been damaged. The suspects were disturbed and fled prior to the arrival of response team. Entry was not gained into the home. Officers patrolled the area in search of suspects however no arrests were made.

Theft of motor vehicle: Verulam -

Be on the lookout for silver Toyota Tazz with registration LSK 872 -. The vehicle was stolen during the early parts of the morning of 27 May from Silver Oak Road in Oaklands. The vehicle had no security devices and was low on fuel at the time of the theft.
