Theft of motor vehicle: Verulam

BE on the lookout for a blue chisel-shape Toyota Corolla with registration ND 628 632.

The vehicle was stolen in Picadilly Street in Ottawa on Monday 15 August. The vehicle had a quarter tank of fuel at the time of the theft.

Theft of minibus: Waterloo

Be on the lookout for a green 1990 model, VW Microbus with registration plates NJ 27010. The vehicle was stolen from Buck Road in Waterloo on the night of 15 August. The exact time of the theft, direction and suspects are unknown.

Learner driver crashes vehicle: Parkgate

At approximately 10.40am on 16 August members of Reaction Unit South Africa were dispatched to Long Island Avenue in Parkgate after being alerted to a motor vehicle accident.

Upon arrival a BMW was found to have crashed through a driveway gate.

The 17-year-old driver, the son of a policeman, claimed he lost control of the vehicle as he turned into Long Island Avenue resulting in the accident.

Upon inspection it was found that the vehicle did not have a licence disk or number plates.

The boy claimed he had obtained his learner’s licence, however, did not have it in his possession at the time of the accident. He was the only occupant in the vehicle and was not injured.

The SAPS were called to the scene to further investigate the matter

Business robbery: Verulam

Members of Reaction Unit South Africa were dispatched to a tuck shop on Marula Circle in Trenance Park, Verulam, on 18 August after receiving reports of a business robbery.

Upon arrival a Pakistani national informed Reaction Officers that four suspects dressed in orange overall pants forcefully gained entry into his business.

One suspect was armed with a firearm while one of his accomplices was armed with a knife. The suspects robbed the victim of an undisclosed amount of cash before firing a shot and fleeing towards Zwelisha.

Reaction Officers patrolled the area in search of the suspects, however, no arrests were made.

Fleeing suspect knocked: R102

A 42-year-old man was seriously injured after being knocked down by the driver of a VW Golf on the R102, Verulam.

At approximately 4.20pm on Thursday 18 August members of Reaction Unit South Africa were dispatched to the accident after receiving several reports of a bleeding man lying on the side of the road.

Upon arrival paramedics treated the pedestrian for multiple injuries before transporting him to hospital.

It is alleged that the 42-year-old man was being chased by private security officers through the Verulam CBD.

When he attempted to run across he R102 he was knocked down by the driver of the VW Golf.

It could not be confirmed as to why the man was being chased. The driver of the VW Golf was not injured in the accident.
