Motor vehicle collision

TONGAAT – One person was injured following a collision on the R102 near the King Shaka International Airport robots.

At approximately 8.15am on Wednesday 2 March, members of Reaction Unit South Africa (Rusa) were dispatched to the collision involving a Toyota Corolla and a Renault Sandero.

One person sustained moderate injuries and was treated on scene before being transported to hospital for further medical attention.

House break-in

Tongaat – On Thursday 3 March Rusa received a call from a motorist stating that while driving past a house on Desi Street in Gandinagar he noticed a person seated inside a Toyota Etios while a second person was seen walking to the property with a crow bar in his hand. Reaction officers were dispatched to the residence and upon arrival found that they had fled the scene prior to their arrival.

Upon investigating officers found that forced entry was gained into the laundry room.

The suspects then removed glass louver windows and forced the burglar bars in before entering the home. The entire house was ransacked.

An LG plasma TV, a Russell Hobbs kettle and R600 in cash was recovered outside the house.

Officers patrolled the area in search of the suspects however no arrests were made.

Taxi driver assists injured woman

Verulam - A taxi driver that ran over a 60-year-old woman on Wednesday 3 March loaded her into a vehicle and drove off in an attempt to get her medical assistance.

Members of Reaction Unit South Africa were approached by a taxi driver who drove to the Rusa headquarters in Verulam and informed officers that he had knocked down the elderly woman with his taxi.

He then left the vehicle on scene, loaded her into another white taxi and drove her to the Rusa Base.

The woman was treated by paramedics and transported her to Osindisweni hospital.

A senior paramedic then advised the taxi driver against moving injured persons from a scene.

The woman is in a stable condition.

Theft of motor vehicle

Tongaat - Be on the lookout for a silver Toyota Yaris with registration NJ 12796.

The vehicle was stolen from the Hilltown Blocks area in Tongaat. Identifying features include a sticker on the back of the vehicle which reads “Leo Auto”, dark tinted windows, black and red wheel caps and the front bumper is faded on the passenger side.

Verulam - One person was injured following a collision on Katsura Drive in Trenance Park, Verulam, on Monday 8 March. At approximately 6.50am Reaction Unit South Africa received a call from a member of public reporting the collision.

Rusa paramedics were dispatched to the scene and upon arrival found that a Toyota Corolla had knocked into a man hole cover.

The driver, a Malawian national, sustained minor injuries and was treated on scene before being transported to a local hospital.

It is alleged that the driver lost control of his vehicle as he turned from Marula Circle into Katsura Drive and crashed into the concrete slab across the road. - Supplied
