THE month of August is dedicated to women, because many not only sacrifice their families, but their lives to serve the community.

The Rotaract Club of Verulam had decided to make a difference to some of the nurses and maternity ward patients at Osindisweni Hospital by spoiling them with Women’s Day pamper packages.

There were about 40 ladies in the maternity ward in who come from disadvantaged backgrounds and 20 nurses who spent their Women’s Day helping others.

The club said in a statement: “We have handed out 60 hampers and made this Women’s Day special for our community. Thank you to the following sponsors for contributing towards the hampers and making this project a success - Zoras Wholesalers, Nu-Gaterite Pharmacy, Leslie Naidoo, Varsha Hurrinath, Roy and Anisha Raghubir, Vaneel-Flower Centre, Sundree Ramlagan, Dhasen-Ice Promotions, Kenthran Govender,Akira Sahadave, Nikita Ajodha, the Tooth Fairy Dental Surgery and members of the Rotaract Club Of Verulam.”
