THE Verulam Child and Family Welfare Society in partnership with Golden Gate Spar and the Verulam Athletics Club will be hosting their annual fun run/walk on Sunday, October 1, at the Verulam Sports Ground.

All participants need to be at the ground by 8am. Participants can choose between a 5km or a 2km run/walk.
In a joint statement the Verulam Child Welfare, Golden Gate Spar and the Verulam Athletics Club said: “This community project has been positioned to take place after the School control tests and matric trial examinations – the objective was to maximise participation of our children.”

The public can obtain their fun run/walk entry ticket at the school, Golden Gate Spar and the Verulam Child Welfare Society.
All participants who complete the event will be presented with a medal and given a goodie bag.

The first three males and the first three females who cross the finish line will be given Golden Gate Spar shopping vouchers to the value of R 250.
Golden Gate Spar is the anchor sponsor of this event and will be providing the medals, goodie bags and the vouchers.

President of the Verulam Child Welfare Society Dr K Naidoo said: “The society thanks Golden Gate Spar for embracing this project, thereby giving effect to social responsibility.
“We also express our thanks to our logistics partner, Verulam Athletics Club and for the support provided by YAHIP.

“We urge the community to participate in this community project.
“It is also envisaged that other community organisations, religious bodies, government entities and families will join us to make this fun run/walk bigger and better.
“Your participation will help us operationalise our motto: “Your care strengthens our care in child and family care.”
