SAPS Verulam arrested one of the most wanted suspects in Waterloo for theft of motor vehicle on August 24.

The 30-year-old man was wanted for 15 theft of motor vehicle cases in the Verulam area.

Captain Mark Prakasim, who was in charge of the operation, said that crime intelligence operatives observed the suspect at Waterloo Spar and as soon as he was at the till members of the SAPS arrested him.

“He was found with a filed down Allen key which is used to open the vehicle door. Upon searching his house we also found another instrument that is also used to break into cars. Police also confiscated his cellphone.

“The suspect took police to Umhlali where he left a red Opel Cub which he stole in Waterloo for engine repairs in November 2016.”

The vehicle was later handed to the owner. The suspect is remanded in police custody for further investigations and possible linking to other theft of cases. - Supplied.
