Tongaat Panthers in Two Oceans Marathon

THE Tongaat Panthers Athletic Club participated in the Old Mutual Two Oceans Ultra Marathon that took place in Cape Town on April 15.

This race has a reputation for been the most beautiful scenic race in the world, with 11 000 runners in the half marathon and 16 000 in the 56km ultra marathon.

The club said in a statement: “Our team of Tongaat Panthers were not deterred by the windy conditions. Sajhida Abdool manoeuvered her way up Chapman’s Peak and completed her 22nd Two Oceans Ultra Marathon in 5:24.

“The second panther home was Raju Nundlal in 6:19. Other members were Avinesh Seetharam 6:22, Shyam Naidoo 6:44 and Bala Naidoo in 6:56 while Hasmooklal Lakha was successful in the half marathon completing in 2:42. The next big one for them to conquer is the ultimate race, the Comrades Marathon.”

Members are reminded that the 13th leg of the Thinnys League Challenge will take place on April 30 at 6am and the youth development programme continues every Wednesday at 4pm from the Flambel Pool parking.
