Tonver finals is here

2016-07-28 06:00

IN order to achieve academically, pupils must be of sound mind and have an equally balanced involvement in sports so that each complement the other thus leading to a holistic development.

The Tonver Schools’ Sports Council, a front runner of school sport in the country, has been providing an opportunity at grassroots level to showcase the talent of their pupils and keep them away from social evils of society.

Schools in the Tongaat and Verulam areas are grateful to have an organisation that is passionate and committed in its delivering of a well-organised school sport structure. Pupils look forward to the popular Tonver Games and are now awaiting the finals.

Prior to the finals, which is scheduled for the 29 and 30 July in Tongaat, all schools were required to participate in the preliminary games to qualify for the coveted Tonver Champion Award.

The “Soaring Falcon” Spur at the King Shaka International Airport has sponsored the Tonver Games 2016 for the second consecutive year.

Jo and Hyno Arnold must be complimented for supporting local public school sports and assisting in keeping pupils “on the court”.

The town of Tongaat will come “alive” on 29 and 30 July when the codes of soccer, netball, volleyball, chess and table tennis in the division of U11, U13, U14, U16 and U19 will vie for the Tonver Champion School of the year.

The Spur “Kitchen on Wheels” which provides Halaal meals will be coming to Tongaat for the first time.

The presentation function will be held at the Outspan Grounds on Saturday 30 July.

Parents, well wishers, teachers, principals, SGBs and the public are urged to attend. - Supplied
