THE eagerly awaited Tonver games that were postponed from 29 July due to inclement weather began on a high note at Tongaat Outspan grounds on Tuesday, 23 August.

Different schools coming from Tongaat, Verulam and surrounding areas in their respective groups are participating in various sporting codes.

Games began at 8.30am and the final results are expected to be released at 3pm.

The contesting teams include netball, volleyball, chess and table tennis.

However, soccer games were called off due to the recent heavy rains that flooded the Sheik Mohideen Stadium in Tongaat.

Tonver president Guru Ramcharan said: “We cancelled soccer games because the Sheik Mohideen Stadium is wet. The recent heavy rains left the sport field flooded. A date for soccer games will be announced and all respective schools will be informed soon,” he said.
