MEMBERS of Verulam Athletic Club trekked to KwaDukuza for a new 10km run and walk on the KZN race calendar.

came first in the open ladies and 40+ category run.
Vukani Maphumulo finished second in the 35+ category in 38.28 while juniors Beauty Msomi and Pretty Ngidi finished second and third respectively in the female 10km run.  Enock Menzi made a welcome return with 40.48 ahead of Paul Mthembu in 50.44. Alan Govender posted a sub-one hour 58.20 finish. Walker, Ronnie Rangasamy eased in 1.09 ahead of novice in his first club run Amith Samsunder in 1.14.

Pam Zwane made a quick dash in 1.14, with Beauty Msomi and Dominic following. Cynthia Zondi made it a weekend double with the PVAC and KwaDukuza Women’s Day and Autism Challenge, both 10km runs. Clara Amina, another of VAC novices scooped walkers’ second position in the female walk in 1.28. Dasen Naidoo completed team VAC participation in 1.38 followed by Jaya Kisten. VAC was also supported by breakfast team Brenda peters and Joey Chetty.
Members are reminded of this weekend’s Saturday and Sunday runs, with 4km and 8km on Saturday and Airport 5, 10, 12, and 15km runs and walk on Sunday. This is free to the public, with no obligation. Registration and 2017 KZN licences are available.
