>> The Tongaat 1860 Legacy Committee is finalising the publication of a Souvenir brochure to capture the life and times of the 1860 indentured Indians. It intends to include the demographic and social changes which have taken place from 1860 to 2017.

Certainly, the brochure will encapsulate Indian Indentured globally. In recent editorial, the Guyana Chronicle argued that:”The Indian experience has shaped the nation’s tapestry, not merely for the various people who came under the oppression system, but also their diverse cultures and other contributions to the nation’s development.” It is against this background that an earnest appeal is made for the submission of photographic, documentary and other archival materials to be evaluated and included in the legacy brochure.
