HAVING launched his career six years ago, the enigmatic and charismatic Karou Charou is one of the most commercially successful and recognisable brands on the SA comedy circuit.

The power of his brand was recognised by the international franchise of McDonalds who handpicked him to be the face of their spicy burger marketing campaign, which saw his image splashed on TV screens and billboards across the country.

Karou has over 20 000 followers on social media locally and internationally. He also featured in Botswana and Zimbabwe.

His YouTube videos have over 100 000 views and he has just released his very own rap music track and video.

His latest show Festival Of Karou will see the ‘turbaned one’ attempt something never been done before by any comedian in South Africa.

He will perform three different full length shows on three consecutive days at the same venue with completely different scripts, props, costumes, music, lighting, etc, which is physically, mentally and technically challenging.

The festival takes place at Sibaya’s Izulu Theatre from 9 to 11 September.

Kama Sutra 1 will feature on Friday 9 September and the sequel Kama Sutra 2 will feature on Saturday 10 September. Both these shows are for adults only.

The family show Hot & Spicy will feature on Sunday 11 September at 3pm. This show will also be recorded for Karou’s second official DVD release.

Tickets are R100 per person and are available at Computicket / Shoprite / Checkers.

Limited early bird tickets are available at R80. Kids under 10 and senior citizens pay R80 for the Sunday family show.

How much food do you need to concentrate?

We have been taught that we need three meals a day in order to make it through the day and while most of us indulge in more than our fair share there is a large portion of South Africans who are living off barely enough to sustain them.
