AN exciting new project started at Esayidi TVET College, the Port Shepstone campus this year.

The Singatha ICT Incubator Project was established for the purpose of developing the business base of the information and communicationstechnology industry in the Ugu District Municipality. To sustain developing SMMEs and emerging entrepreneurs we felt it was essential that new businesses be exposed to, and can utilise the latest technology. We hope to achieve this by:

· providing skills programmes, eg customer service, financial management, business plans; and

· providing a comprehensive set of high-quality business development services and support facilities

We are also focusing on sectors that have a high potential to boost socio-economic objectives, in particular, employment, which includes agriculture and agro-processing, tourism, film industry, logistics and transport as well as the arts crafts and cultural industries.

The “incubatees” have office space from which to conduct their businesses. They can meet with their clients at their office.

Consultants are available to assist the incubatees with their businesses. Currently we have six incubatees in the incubator conducting web page design, programming, web hosting, database, tourism, media andamp; advertising, graphic design and entertainment. These are young people passionate about their businesses and are looking for the opportunity to expand their businesses. We invite the community to visit us and do business with our incubatees.

The incubator will have pre-incubatees, incubatees and virtual incubatees. There will be short skills courses that will be offered to the incubatees. Local businesses interested in short skills courses are welcome to contact the manager to discuss the training needs of their businesses.

Anyone interested in becoming part of the incubator should could contact SIngatha ICT Incubator on 074 166 9111.

How much food do you need to concentrate?

We have been taught that we need three meals a day in order to make it through the day and while most of us indulge in more than our fair share there is a large portion of South Africans who are living off barely enough to sustain them.
