First panel discussion held

As part of strengthening working relations with Matatiele stakeholders, Mayor Cllr Momelezi Mbedla spoke to them about the draft budget for 2015/2016 and service delivery related programmes. The engagement formed part of promoting transparency on municipal plans and programmes.

The focus was on strategies of transforming Matatiele Local Municipality under the theme “Working Together In Developing Matatiele Local Municipality”.

Local government is driven through participatory democracy and this session seeks to strengthen good working relations that the municipality has long upheld with stakeholders. The engagement was in form of a panel discussion broadcast live on Alfred Nzo Community radio.

Registration of supplier database

In compliance with the Preferential Policy Framework Act (Act No. 5 of 2000), the Matatiele Local Municipality invites prospective suppliers and/or service providers and companies to register on their supplier database.

The municipality will not do business with any supplier who is not accredited and registered on the database.

Suppliers who are already registered are advised to update their documents and information as soon as possible.

Public notice

Notice is hereby given in terms of Section 49 (1) (a) (i) of the Local Government Municipal Property Rates Act 2004 (Act 6 of 2004), hereinafter referred to as the “Act”, that the supplementary valuation roll for the financial years 2014/2015 is open for public inspection at the municipal offices, from 22 May to 22 June.

An invitation is hereby made in terms of Section 49 (1) (a) (ii) of the Act that any owner of property or other person who so desires should lodge an objection with the municipal manager in respect of any matter reflected in, or omitted from, the supplementary valuation roll as such.

The form for the lodging of an objection is obtainable at all revenue offices of the municipality in Matatiele.

The completed forms, addressed to the municipal manager, must be returned for the attention of the people indicated:

World Environmental Day celebrations

The Department of Economic Development, Environmental Affairs and Tourism, in partnership with Matatiele Local Municipality and social partners, will observe environmental day at Mzongwana Ward 5.

This event is commemorated with the aim of educating, raising awareness and engaging stakeholders in the management of the environmental and natural resources. World Environmental Day is on 5 June, but the weeks following are included to focus on environmental issues and taking part in activities focused on improving the environment. The event will be held on 4 June at Mzongwana.
