Mayor tabled the final annual budget of R433, 5 million

MATATIELE Community was assured of the best service deliveryin the 2015 – 2016 Financial Year.

This was outlined when the Mayor of Matatiele Local Municipality, Cllr Momelezi Mbedla tabled to Council the 2015/2016 -2017/2018 Medium Term Revenue and Expenditure Framework (MTREF) at the Maluti Civic Centre on 29 of May.

“We acknowledge the crucial role local government has to play in consolidating democracy and advancing service delivery and development and our responsibilities to ensure that it effectively fulfils this role. We recognise that the success of our democracy depends crucially on an efficient, effective, responsive and accountable local government sphere. We agree that local government is everyone’s business” said Cllr Mbedla.

Outlining achievements that the government has delivered to the people, the following projects were highlighted as the projects aimed at boosting the local economy and creating jobs:

Construction of five classrooms at Tholang Senior Secondary School, Mariazel SSS Renovation of Science Lab, The following appointments were made by the Department of Health to serve at Taylor Bequest Hospital: one Medical Officer/Doctor Permanent,one Seasonal Doctor, 2 Professional Nurses, 8 Post Comm serve professional nurses, 3 Comm Serve Prof. Nurses, 1 Comm Serve Radiographer, 1 Enrolled Nurse, 2 Enrolled Nursing Assistants, 2 Food Service AID. Construction of Khotsong TB Hospital and Thabachicha Thusong Service Centre. The Mayor also outlined electricity programmes around Matatiele and that 660 houses will be switched-on at Ramafole Ward 24 on the 15th of June 2015 by the Deputy Minister of Energy, Minister Thembisile Majola.

More than R100 million projects will better the lives of Matatiele community in the next financial year:

Lagrange Pedestrian Bridge, Soloane Access Road, Mangopeng Access Road, Tlhakanelo Bridge, Kamorathaba-Tshepisong Access Road, SoloaneAccess Road andMaluti Internal Streets -Phase 3. Public notice: notice calling for inspection.

Notice is hereby given in terms of Section 49 (1) (a) (i) of the Local Government Municipal Property Rates Act 2004 (Act 6 of 2004), hereinafter referred to as the “Act”, that the supplementary valuation roll for the Financial years 2014 – 2015 is open for public inspection at the Municipal Offices, from 22nd May 2015 to the 30thJune 2015

An invitation is hereby made in terms of Section 49 (1) (a) (ii) of the Act that any owner of property or other person who so desires should lodge an objection with the Municipal Manager in respect of any matter reflected in, or omitted from the supplementary valuation roll as such.

The form for the lodging of an objection is obtainable at all Revenue offices of the Municipality in Matatiele.
