GKM Spokesperson Sabelo Ncwane responded to the matter and said a meeting was held between the municipality and the Horseshoe residents after they refused to move from the reception area. “As the municipality we couldn’t agree to the demand that we must reconnect the electricity because people must know that they have a responsibility of paying municipal services. We tried to negotiate a payment plan with them but they refused so we could not do anything.”

He condemned the “habit” of invading and disrupting work at the municipality.

“We are willing to listen to the grievances of the people, but we cannot continue to condone unruliness and anarchy.”
