POLICE are searching for nine awaiting trial prisoners who escaped from Maluti SAPS holding cells on 17 November.
It is suspected that they cut two inner cell doors and a security gate and climbed onto the roof using blankets as ladders. They then cut open the roof grill and escaped.

The prisoners were in custody for murder, rape, housebreakings and theft.

Police spokesperson Captain Raphael Motloung asked people not to apprehend the prisoners because they are dangerous, they must immediately inform the SAPS.

“These prisoners are dangerous,” said Motloung.
