Car theft on the rise

2017-05-26 06:01

MOTOR vehicle theft is on the increase in Kokstad as many cases have been reported.
In Bongweni township, a bakkie was stolen from a yard last Friday. The owner of the vehicle has opened a case of theft, and the car has not been recovered.

In another case, items worth R5 600 were stolen from a car that was parked in a yard in Bongweni. The complainant told police that a camera and a car battery was stolen.

Police spokesman Captain Dumisani Ncongo advised people to keep their vehicles and valuables safe.
He said police opened another case after a 23-year-old man reported to the SAPS that his minibus taxi was almost stolen on Friday.

“The complainant told police he found the vehicle had been moved from its original parking place in the yard and the gate had been opened,” said Ncongo. No arrests has been made in all cases. - Supplied
