CASHIER Andisiwe Khala (26), started 2017 with a huge gift after she received a new VW UP in a lucky draw competition at Jet on Tuesday.

“Kokstad Jet was selected from 500 stores that have exceeded budget last year. Giving a car is part of motivating and thanking staff for their contribution,” said Urin Ferndale, Jet national chief executive officer.

Khala completed matric in 2010 and because of financial constraints was unable to further her studies so applied for a job at Jet and was employed as a cashier in 2012.

“I am happy to receive this car because I will no longer have to travel on foot or use taxis when going to work,” said Khala.
She doesn’t have a driver’s licence but said she will go for lessons soon. For now she will ask friends or family to drive her in the new vehicle.

Khala’s father, Zimoshile said he is grateful for the car and will ensure that it is kept safe all the time.
