KOKSTAD Link Pharmacy Marathon brought happiness to Kokstad when 1000 runners and walkers participated and won prizes last Saturday.

The annual marathon was organised by Kokstad Link Pharmacy founder, Liatile Ntoa, and was supported by Greater Kokstad Municipality, Department of Arts and Culture and sponsors.

Runners participated in the 21.1km, 10km and 5km fun run and walk. Link Pharmacy staff, GKM staff and Nick Sissing were part of the marathon organising team.

The first male home in the 20 to 35 age group in the 21,1km was Mawande Hlongwe, who received R1 200. Zama Mnoligarta was
second and received R1 000 and in third place was Thabang Masupha, who got R900.

The first female home in the 21,1km was Philiswa Mandla, who received R1 200, second was Gwengwa Khonzeni, who received R1 000 and in third place was
Zandile Menze, who received
R900.

Winners in the 36 and above age group in the 21.1km race were first Thandabantu Rhafuza, who received R1 200, N. Kunene came second and received R1 000 and Sibusiso Nxele was third and received R900.

In the female 10km race, Nontlahla Gcina came first and received R550, Nosaziso Sikhosana came second and received R450 and
Taryn Waigh came third and received R350.

Runners in the five-kilometre fun run and walk received vouchers and prize money.

Ntoa thanked runners and sponsors for their contribution.

“The marathon was introduced to help people to live a healthy lifestyle and to support the community of Kokstad. Next year runners will participate in the 42.2km.” said Ntoa.

“The marathon has contributed positively to the economy of Kokstad and brought fun for the people of Kokstad,” said Greater Kokstad Municipality deputy mayor, Karen Walker.

Sponsors awarded certificates and TV actor Lusanda Mbane entertained at the finish.
