LOCAL fishermen Lucan Bloem and Clayton Wiggit are to participate in a number fishing competitions this year and have started a drive to encourage young people to take up fishing as a hobby and enter competitions.

In December 2016, Bloem won a prize for his 2.2kg catch in a competition at Clive Dam outside Kokstad.
Wiggit’s catch weighed 2.1kg in the same competition and he said will be taking part in a competition in June in Kokstad.
“Fishing is my hobby and I participate in all competitions around Kokstad. I want young people to stay away from alcohol and drugs and fish,” said Wiggit. - Supplied.
