THE Greater Kokstad Municipal council sat for the last time last Thursday until it opens again next year.

Speaker Zolani Mhlongo warned councillors to behave during the festive season when interacting with the community.

Mhlongo said it is worrying when councillors misbehave in public.

“A ward councillor was recently quoted by a local newspaper saying she is ‘Alpha and Omega’ in her ward and people must bow to her. Councillors must talk with respect when addressing people and not make any comments in the media.”

GKM has also gone for months without an internet connection for municipal employees to communicate and execute their duties efficiently.

Mhlongo called for a full report from the acting municipal manager, Andile Velem about the internet.

He also asked for a full report about an incomplete Bongweni Stadium, Eco Park and Bongweni Youth Centre that are not being used but are completed, and the Extension 7 roads that are not tarred.
