AN Umzimkhulu gospel artist, Sibongukwanda “Jumbo” Nyangiwe, is asking for your vote after being nominated in two categories in the Independent National Gospel Music Awards (Ingoma) that will take place in Johannesburg on 15 August.

Nyangiwe has been nominated in the Best Song of the Year and the Best Album of the Year categories after releasing his first album, Jumbo Siyaya in February.

He started singing many years ago and sang in his Faith Mission Church choir.

At the last year’s SABC Crown Gospel Music Awards he was nominated in the Best Gospel Newcomer category, but didn’t win.

“I am working hard to bring awards home as I have been nominated by gospel artists like Bethusile Mcinga and Khaya Mayedwa,” said Nyangiwe.

The Ingoma awards started in 2013 to honour upcoming gospel artists and promote gospel music.

Nyangiwe is visiting schools, churches and public places to ask people to vote for him.

Tomorrow he will sing at the launch of the album of Dumi Mkokstad in Durban and is going to launch his first DVD, Jumbo Siyaya in Cape Town.

“I want to thank the people of Harry Gwala for supporting my music and inviting me to perform in their events.”

To vote, SMS “Ingoma Song of the Year Jumbo2” and “Ingoma Album of the Year Jumbo2” to 40439.
