Investment scheme “defrauded” by investors

2016-04-15 06:00

FOUNDERS of an investment scheme called Noble Dream Investment Plan in Kokstad say they are living in fear following alleged intimidation by people who were demanding their money back.
On Wednesday last week, two angry men stormed into the offices and demanded the money that they had allegedly given to the scheme for investment. The owners were not in at the time, only a security guard and a staff member were present.

Siyabonga Sithole (35) who is one of Noble Dream Investment Plan founders said the men were accusing the company of cheating people out of their money.

“The men walked away with two tables, a wall clock, camp chairs, ten office chairs and a computer. They say the company is going to vanish with people’s money which is wrong,” said Sithole.

Sithole said their investment company has been operating smoothly in Kokstad but changes started on 25 March. He said people were defrauding the company by claiming money using fake receipts.

“We observed that after we saw a shortage on the money we had. People were not using original receipts when claiming from us and as a result the company has lost more than R200 000. We have opened a case of fraud and investigations are underway,” he said.

The investment company opened its offices in February and every morning scores of people were lining in the offices for money collections and to investment.

When the Fever journalist visited the offices, a notice was plugged in the door informing people that money will be paid from 25 to 31 April.

“We are not going to disappear without paying people,” insisted Sithole.

“On the 25 April we are going to call police to protect us so that people won’t take chances.”

A case of business burglary has been opened with the Kokstad SAPS and no arrests have been made. Police spokesman Lieutenant Dumisani Ncongo said investigations are underway.
