KEHS hockey teams at Underberg Festival

Last weekend the U7-U13 King Edward High girls’ hockey teams travelled to Underberg to participate in a girls’ hockey tournament. The girls played very well for a great start to the hockey season.

The results were as follow:

U7 – won 2-1 against KJS (A), won 3-1 against KJS (B), lost 1-2 against St Patricks and lost 1-0 against Underberg.

U8 – won 6-0 against Underberg, won 6-0 against KJS (B), won 3-2 against KJS (A), and lost 1-0 against St Patricks.

U9 – lost 5-1 against KJS, lost 2-0 against Lynford, and lost 1-0 against St Patricks.

U10 – won 3-0 against KJS, won 6-0 against Underberg (B), won 2-0 against Underberg (A), won 8-0 against Lynford.

U11 – won 2-0 against St Patricks; drew 1-1 with Lynford, lost 2-1 against KJS, and lost 1-0 against Underberg

U13 – drew 0-0 with KJS (B), drew 1-1 with KJS (A), and lost 2-0 against Underberg.

KEHS let hockey balls fly at Girls High

On Friday, May 5, the King Edward High S U16 and first girls hockey teams travelled to Pietermaritzburg to play against Girls’ High School. Girls’ High School had the better teams on the day and won the U16 (5-0) and first team (1-0) matches. However, the KEHS U16’s especially enjoyed the opportunity to play on astro and learnt a lot from both Girls High and watching the KEHS first team play. The first team game was a close encounter and excellent hockey was played.

KEHS tackles Maclear

Last week several King Edward High School rugby teams travelled to Maclear for rugby matches. Last Thursday, the U11 rugby team had a tough match to start with, but managed to keep their structure and won 39-5 in the end. On Saturday, May 6, the U13 and U15 teams had their turns. The U13’s lost 15-7 and the relatively inexperienced U15 team won their match 34-0 with a good performance.

Mirror, mirror on the wall

On Wednesday, May 3, the KEHS SP pupils enjoyed a glittering social – “The Evening of the Stars”. Dressed to the tee, they arrived excited and ready to dance their shoes off. The evening was thoroughly enjoyed by all with plenty to eat, dance and chat about. Congratulations to Eathan Phizacklea and Palesa Mabea who were crowned prince and princess.

KEHS hockey and netball against St Patricks

On May 8, KEHS first boys hockey and first and second netball teams played friendly games against St Patricks. The King Edward teams fared extremely well, winning all the games. Well done to all who participated.

KEHS teacher at Master Athletics Championships

Congratulations to Miss Angela Cilliers who recently returned from the SA Masters Athletics Championships with six medals. She received gold in discus and javelin, and silver in pentathlon, shot put, weight throw and hammer throw.
