KING Edward High School was one of 15 schools honoured at the National Education Excellence Awards in Pretoria.

We were announced as the second best Quintile 4 school in the country in the 2016 NSC examinations.

A basket of criteria was used, which included pass rate, Bachelor rate, performance in maths and science, number of distinctions, number of children entering and leaving the school, etc.

Prizes of a library trolley of books and computer equipment was allocated to the school.

It was an auspicious and glittering occasion attended by top education hierarchy of the country, including Minister Angie Motsheka who attended school at Mariazel and promised to visit King Edward High School this term.

It was wonderful to be recognised as one of the top schools in the country.

KEHS athletes perform at ASA championships

On April 7 and 8 two King Edward High School athletes, Kayla Harris and Aaron Lombard, took part in the ASA Youth and Junior Athletics Championships in Cape Town at the Green Point Stadium.

Kayla was part of the KZN
Athletics Team and Aaron participated with the Transkei Athletics Team. Both took part in older age groups (U18).

Aaron excelled winning bronze in shotput with a distance of 17.19m and also earned seventh place in the country in discus with a distance of 47.36m.

Kayla earned a fifth place in discus with a distance of 37.54m and a ninth place in shotput with a distance of 12.19m.

Both Aaron and Kayla peaked at the right time with personal best performances.

Congratulations to both on your achievements.

KEHS rugby against Creston
College

On March 30 the King Edward High School First Rugby Team travelled to Creston College. The KEHS team tried their best during the tough match, but lost 28-5. Well done to Creston College who displayed some excellent rugby.
