THREE young Kokstad boxers have been selected to participate in a provincial boxing tournament in Durban tomorrow.

Ezile Bokotho, Bantu Ntshika, Avumile Gxiya and their coach Sinethemba Mphumela will leave for Durban today.

Selections were done in Ixopo last Sunday where boxers from Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma Municipality, Greater Kokstad, Ubuhlebezwe and Umzimkhulu participated.

At selections six Kokstad boxers failed to qualify. The U12 and U13 boxers, including females, also did not qualify in their bouts in Ixopo and had to return home to Kokstad.

Last Friday Asanda Magede fought Aphelele Mtolo at the Bhongweni Youth Centre, with Mtolo winning the bout.

Female boxing coach Jean Nyembezi encouraged women to take up boxing and said boxers must work hard in provincial matches in order to be selected for national matches.
