THE community and congregants from eight churches marched against the high crime rate and drug abuse in Kokstad on Wednesday.

The march was organised by Breakthru Church International in Kokstad in celebration of Women’s Day.

Pastor Benjamin Fortein said crime and drug abuse is high in Kokstad and needs prayers.

“Instead of seeing young people doing drugs we decided to hold this march to rescue them.

“We want young people to get closer to God and live a good life.”

The church said it is working with NGOs to get drug addicts to attend rehabilitation programmes.

Apostle Isaac Frimpong from Bethel Worship Centre said prayer is the only way to save young people from drugs.

After the march, people walked among the food stalls, went on jumping castles and had their faces painted.
