WARM greetings to you.

Allow me to extend a word of gratitude to Matatiele Local Municipality political leadership, management and staff for their continuous smooth running of administration.
Their service to the people of Matatiele created a good image for our institution in the past financial year.
Let me also assure you that as your leadership, we are once again ready to put more effort in serving you as we begin the new financial year.
New financial year, new tariffs

Following the open council day held at Ha-Khauoe village in Ward 25, where the first citizen tabled the 2017/2018 budget, new tariffs have been adopted by council and are being implemented with effect from July 1.

Every owner or occupier of premises from which refuse is collected twice weekly shall pay the municipality R134.51 per bag per month.

Commercial removal: individual and/or each business shall be charged a basic service charge of R201.75 per month.

Building plans: fees for plans of any building submitted in terms of the Building Regulations shall be calculated at R6 per R1 000 or part thereof in respect of total estimated cost of the work. This is subject to a minimum charge of R1 000. Building cost is calculated at R2 500 per m2. This is used to calculate the building plan fees for buildings in excess of 100m2 and major alterations to existing buildings.

Electricity tariff will be implemented as approved by the National Electricity Regulator (NER). This means basic charge, single or three-phase per household per month, plus the kWh charges per month. For further information of all tariffs visit our website www.matatiele.gov.za
The same information can be found on our municipal offices noticeboards.
Community gets fire training

Maloti Drakensberg Transfrontier Programme and strategic partners are to empower local communities to be fire wise. The establishment of fire committees has been identified as a way to mobilise communities in driving fire issues. In line with this, relevant stakeholders hosted a fire imbizo at Chibini-Mzongwana on 31 March, where communities were given firefighting equipment – 10 fire beaters, 10 knap sacks and 10 rake hoes.

We are a destination of choice and excellence.
