MORE than 95 young people from disadvantaged villages around Matatiele have been given opportunities to do learnership programmes in Business Administration and Project Management. The induction ceremony was held in Matatiele on Monday.

The 12-month programmes are aimed at reducing poverty and the unemployment rate. Matatiele Local Municipality together with Services SETA held an induction programme for recruited young people and Thembeka Dyantyi, the municipality councillor told young people grab this opportunity.

“I am happy to see young people from rural areas being part of the programme because there is poverty in many rural areas. This programme is going to reduce unemployment rate, teenage pregnancy, crime, and alcohol and drug abuse.
The municipality is planning to bring many skills development projects for young people,” said Dyantyi.

Yonela Nkunzi, who has been included in the programme, from Ward 10 said she sitting at home and had been looking for work, but without success.

“I am so excited about this learnership - it is a dream come true,” she said. - Supplied.
