Mayor brings hope to family

THE Harry Gwala District Mayor Mluleki Ndobe brought hope to a poor family after a truck damaged houses belonging to two families at Dungeni village on Tuesday.

A truck, carrying water for a project that is building a school in the village, allegedly swerved off the road and crashed into the houses last Friday, which was witnessed by people.
The accident resulted in the death of a three-year-old boy, injuring a one-month-old baby and a 35-year-old woman Sindisiwe Sabela and her three-year-old child. The family has nine family members and after the crash had nowhere to live.
Ndobe and municipal officials told the family the municipality is saddened by the incident.

“The municipality decided to visit the family to assess the damage in order to help.”

Food parcels and blankets were also delivered to the family by the municipality.

One family was provided with temporary shelter and the mayor pledged R10 000 per family.

Speaking on behalf of the bereaved families Nhlanhla Cele told officials that the family is saddened by what happened.

“The family is preparing for to bury a three-year-old boy on Saturday.”
