AT the launch of the new municipality in Bulwer on Monday, former African Union chair, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma vowed to support the new municipality in KZN that is named after her.
The Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma Municipality was established after the former Ingwe and Kwa Sani municipalities merged last year.

The new municipality includes
Underberg, Creighton and Bulwer, and has 15 wards.

African National Congress Harry Gwala regional chairperson, Zamo Nxumalo said Dlamini Zuma was born in Bulwer and played a big role in developing the area when she served as minister of health, Home Affairs and Foreign Affairs.

Nxumalo said many clinics and hospitals in the area were built during her time as minister of health.
“We don’t want to do nothing while other areas in the country
recognise her.

“Dlamini Zuma is our daughter
and we are proud of her,” said Nxumalo.
At the launch, Nkosiyezwe Vezi, municipality manager unveiled the new logo and said the municipality previously used the former Kwa Sani and former Ingwe municipality logos.

The logo contains the face of Dlamini Zuma, green mountains, two swallows and Bushmen paintings

Deputy Mayor, Ntuseng Duma said all structures in the district are behind Dlamini Zuma as the next president of South Africa.

“We don’t support her because she is the ex-wife of the current president, her capabilities have showed the country she can serve as president.”

Dlamini Zuma encouraged young people to seek opportunities and get skills instead of using alcohol, drugs and crime. She also condemns teenage pregnancy.

“I will visit the municipality to make sure that it serves its purpose of delivering services to the people and fighting corruption.
“Sometimes I will visit the municipality as a community member of Bulwer to question municipal officials about basic services that are not available to people or visit schools to ask teachers about poor performance of pupils.
“People must utilise their land to fight poverty,” she said.
