ECONOMIC Freedom Fighters member, Zukisani Tshangase, was sworn in as a Greater Kokstad Municipality PR councillor at a special council sitting in the GKM council chambers on Tuesday.

The senior magistrate, Monwabisi Mda, presided.

Tshangase replaces councillor Dumisani Dlamini, who resigned last month.

Dlamini told Fever he resigned because he wants to build branches of the party.

“There are many members of the party who are councillors. I want new people to take over,” said Dlamini.

In December EFF lost another member, Councillor Vuyani Ndyebo, who was in a car accident and was replaced by Martha Dlakavu.

Council Speaker Zolani Mhlongo welcomed Tshangase, but said the constant changing of councillors by EFF is a concern to the municipality.

Rules of order that all councillors are given will also be issued to Tshangase said Mhlongo.

“It is important for Tshangase to adhere to and respect the rules of the council.”

EFF member Lindani Zungula said previous councillors failed to achieve the mandate of the EFF.

“We want the new councillor to fight corruption and favouritism in the municipality,” said Zungula.
