ON a door-to-door walk by DA members in the villages of Ward 10 under the Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma Municipality on August 7, people told them about the terrible situation the Dlamini family is living in.
The family of 10 live in a one-room mud house in Gqumeni village outside Bulwer.

The walk was led by PR councillor, Victor Phoswa to prepare for the 2019 general elections.

The Dlamini family only has the old age grant of Zakhe Dlamini (85), and his wife Flora (75), to live on.

Phoswa said he was shocked to see the family cramped in one room in a democratic country.
“The house can fall down at anytime,” he said.

Phoswa said the shocking situation of the Dlamini family has been reported to the higher structures of DA for assistance.
He said the party will ensure that the family has proper housing to accommodate all of them, and food.

“A wheelchair is also needed to for the granny who cannot walk properly because of leg problems,” said Phoswa.

One family member, Siya Dlamini, said he did temporary work to support the family, but his money is not enough to build a house.
He said life is difficult, especially at night as they all have to squeeze into one room.
“Our grandfather also has eye problems and we have to help him.”
