Politically related cases investigated

ACTING KZN Provincial Police Commissioner, Major-General Bheki Langa said he is following the investigation of politically related cases in KwaZulu-Natal.
He said the community can rest assured these cases are receiving serious attention.

A multidisciplinary task team consisting of Hawks, Detective Services, Crime Intelligence, Local Criminal Record Centre and National Prosecuting Authority are looking at a number of cases that occurred from last year in certain areas, as well as Umzimkhulu.

The cases include murder, attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder and intimidation.

A number of arrests have already been affected with many cases currently under way in courts across the province. “We are following these cases very closely and are confident the teams are making progress in the cases that have not had any breakthrough yet.
“We are appealing to communities to remain calm and allow the investigation team to do their work without hindrance,” said Langa.

He asked those with information that could be of assistance to detectives to come forward and co-operate with investigators.
“We are taking the attack on public representatives in the province very seriously and will do everything within our control to bring the perpetrators to book,” said Langa. - Supplied
