MARGATE resident Professor Augustine Tugli from the University of Venda winds up his six-month sabbatical leave this month.

While on leave in Margate, Tugli worked on a research project that took him to high schools in the Eastern Cape. According to him, his work as a lecturer and a researcher in academia for the past seven years has been exciting and challenging.

“As an active researcher, I have presented a number of papers emanating from my research outputs at conferences in Washington DC, Toronto, Venice and Singapore.

“My most recent papers on the impact of disability grants and extracurricular encounters and the needs of students with disabilities were presented at conferences at the University of London and the University of Western Australia - Perth, respectively.”

Tugli said he hopes his current investigation into stressors in the work environment of teachers will yield enough data for a meaningful analysis and looks forward to resuming his duties at the end of the month.
