MALUTI police are yet to open a case after a rhino horn was found near the Qacha’s Nek border entry recently. SAPS spokesperson Lieutenant Raphael Motloung said the border police were patrolling the area and saw a man walking on the road whom they suspected to be an illegal immigrant from Lesotho.

“The man was carrying a sports bag and when police approached him with the intention of searching him, he fled, leaving the bag behind,” said Motloung.

Inside the bag was a rhino horn which was taken to Maluti police station. The suspect is still on the run and the horn has been taken to a police laboratory for forensic testing. - Supplied.
