THE elderly gogos and madalas at the Elonwabeni Old Age Home in Kokstad exercised their right to as special voters at the home that was used as a special voting station on Monday.
Assisted by IEC staff, they put their mark on the ballot papers.

Ethel Ntsele (88), said she is voting for Madiba when asked by an IEC official.

“I don’t want to disappoint Madiba because he was my classmate at the University of Fort Hare.”

She said she sang in the same choir as Madiba at university.

Some residents said voting for other parties means they are dishonoring Madiba.

“Madiba gave us a grant and our grandchildren get grants. I am voting for him,” said home resident, Nice Xhokoza (88).
