UMGENI Water hosted a provincial sports tournament at Riverview Stadium in Kokstad last weekend.
In the soccer finals, Umgungundlovu beat eThekwini Metro 1-0 to lift the Cup. The Umgungundlovu netball team beat Umgeni Water 26-18.

Sithembiso Ngwazi from Umgeni Water said the aim of the tournament was to build social cohesion and promote healthy lifestyles. “The tournament started in 2009 to encourage government employees and people to take part in sport and be healthy.”

Umgeni Water provides water to Harry Gwala, eThekwini, Umgungundlovu, Msunduzi and Ilembe districts.

“Last year, the tournament was hosted in Ilembe District and we will announce venue and dates
for the next tournament,” said Ngwazi.
