AN annual prize giving was hosted by St Monica’s College in Matatiele for pupils who excelled in academics and sport recently.
Father Francis Mafunda opened the event with inspiring words and handed out awards to pupils with diverse talents and abilities.

“I want to thank pupils for their dedication and commitment in school. Parents and teachers also played a positive role to the success of the school,” said Father Mafunda.

Grade 8 pupils, Qayiya Mayaba, Ntumeleng Machili and Alizwa Madikane were awarded for excellence in academics.
Other pupils who received awards include Cebisa Kraai, Liyavuma Hangana, Abulele Ncapayi, Bokhabane Shibani, Siyanda Jokazi, Buyiswa Mpumnyuka, Palesa Taetso, Talisha Marais, Khadeejah Kajee, Lerato Moshoeshoe and Athenkosi Bezana.

Rorisang Mapheleba received an award for Good Fellowship and Uma Jakalase received the Sportsperson of the Year award. Teachers also received awards for long service at the school.

Pre-school pupils, junior primary and senior primary pupils also received awards.
The school also hosted the annual matric tea, where parents and teachers prayed for matric pupils as they being their final examinations. - Supplied.
