A WELL-KNOWN woman from Horseshoe stripped naked in the Kokstad CBD after being chased by security guards for allegedly shoplifting on Friday afternoon.

The woman stripped naked while running from the security guards pursuing her.

Chaos ensued in the nearby restaurants and shops as people clamoured to see what was unfolding. Others were seen taking pictures of the woman with their cellphones.

A waitress from one of the restaurants said the woman caused a lot of commotion in the street, which resulted in her messing up customers’ orders.

“When I saw her parading naked on the street, I though she was practicing witchcraft,” said one street vendor.

According to one of the security guards who gave chase, she noticed the woman stuffing clothes into her handbag, and as she went out of the shop she followed and stopped her.

“As I tried to block her, she started screaming and took off her clothes and ran naked,” said security guard who asked not to be named.

The guards decided to go to the police station and report the matter but the police could not locate the woman soon afterwards.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Dumisani Ncongo confirmed the incident. He said there is no case open at the police station against naked woman.
