UPPER Mtumasi Primary & High School teacher, Michael Baraza was ordained as a senior pastor at the Matatiele Community Church in Pholile village last Sunday.

Congregants, community members and Chief Luphindo from the village witnessed the ordination service.

Baraza teaches natural science, technology and Xhosa and leads the Matatiele church branch.

At the ceremony, he told congregants that the church is going to change many lives.

“We participated in the fight against teenage pregnancy and drugs and alcohol abuse in the area where the church organised a youth conference in June.

The church plans to organise a women’s conference that will deal with challenges faced by women,” said Baraza.

He said he would open church branches across the area.

“I am not going to quit as a teacher. I will participate in the growing of the church after school work. I want to lead the church by doing good things for the benefit of community and handle its finances.”

Bishop Vusi Dube, founder of the church fromDurbancongratulated Baraza and encouraged him to take the church in the right direction.
